Our Story

The making of AlBuryani

It began with a craving—and a challenge.

Raza, originally from Hyderabad, moved to the UK to pursue his studies—completing both his undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and a master’s in Sustainable Energy & Environment.

He discovered his passion for cooking while living abroad. In tiny shared kitchens, cooking became his therapy. That passion truly peaked when he learned to make Biryani  using the traditional family recipe. It became his way of reconnecting with the flavours of home—aromatic, layered, and deeply comforting.

Replicating those familiar tastes abroad wasn’t easy though. He craved the authenticity, but sourcing simple ingredients like ginger garlic paste, fried onions, and whole spices proved tricky. Everything was either packed with preservatives or lacked flavour, and making them from scratch took forever.

Realising how essential these ingredients were to everyday cooking—and how little was available that was both fresh and convenient—he came home with a business idea simmering.

Luckily, his mother, Moiza Rafath, had just the right mix of experience and entrepreneurial spirit to help bring it to life. An edupreneur with a background in hospitality, banking, and over 20 years in educational leadership, Moiza had already built alternative learning spaces that delivered meaningful experiences. Now, she channelled that same passion into creating a food brand for young, busy families looking for honest, high-quality essentials.

Together, they founded Alburyani—a brand born from home kitchens, family meals, and the belief that purity and convenience should go hand in hand. No shortcuts. No nasties. Just the real stuff, made with care.
